A Muscat Regatta committee meeting chaired by the regatta committee chairman Saleem Q. Al-Zawawi was held at the Marina Bandar Al-Rowdha with representatives from the ROP, Oman Sail, RNO, Ministry of Sports Affairs and Regatta Consultants GWM Racing, who had flown out from UK.
Key issues discussed included collaboration with the Dubai to Muscat race, opening up entries to the new Weta Class Trimaran and the F18 NACRA catamarans, and planning for the prize giving and social events.
Advance publicity for the event was proving useful in the quest for sponsors. The link with the Dubai to Muscat race has the potential to significantly increase the size of the Muscat to Khasab race fleet. Early indications were that the 2010 record breaking dinghy fleet of 49 boats will easily be broken.
